Right to Refuse or Cancel Bookings
MRC reserves the right to accept or decline a booking without providing any rationale for why this decision was made. A booking may be declined for many reasons. Examples are included below, though this is not an exhaustive list:
- Where staff capacity and availability to facilitate, host and respond to the needs of additional guests to the building at that time is limited.
- Where the facility has been prioritized for use for another purpose at the time of the booking.
- Where those who make bookings are unwilling to comply with House Rules and Terms and Conditions, a mandatory requirement for all residents.
- When there is a conflict in bookings and only one booking can be accepted.
- Where there is insufficient room availability to host the booking.
- Where the booking may have a detrimental impact on the safety and/or wellbeing of our staff and/or residents.
- Where there are concerns that the booking has the potential to cause reputational damage to Morling College.
- A person meets any of the Special COVID19 conditions outlined at which point all people are required to cancel their booking in order to ensure MRC fulfils the conditions of its COVIDsafe plan.
- Other such factors.
MRC is primarily a student residential community. MRC takes seriously the duty of care that we have to those living and working on our premises. Where bookings may lead to situations that could compromise the safety or wellbeing of our community, then MRC will appropriately review and re-assess any risks associated with the booking. This may occur even after a booking has initially been confirmed as further information about the booking may arise at a later stage of the booking process.
Where MRC declines or rescinds a booking, a refund in full will be granted.
There is no right and wrong in making these decisions, it is up to the judgement of the MRC staff involved, taking into account local circumstances and the needs of our student residential community.
Special COVID-19 conditions: Cancellations Related to COVID19
